Dr. Belinda Bennet is a values-based passionate leader with more than three decades of experience in international development, particularly as it pertains to child rights, excluded communities and women.
Prior to joining Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC), she led U.K. Christian Aid — an international non-governmental agency — forging a new business model for India. Previously, Belinda was the head of regional operations for U.K. Christian Aid in South Asia.
She has chaired a civil society consortium, which worked with the Poorest Area Civil Society Programme, an undertaking by the U.K. government’s Department for International Development. The initiative aimed to empower the most marginalized communities in India to realize their rights (2009-2016).
The country director has also led major emergency responses in the South Asia region, reaching millions of affected people during the Tsunami response (2004- 09) in India and Sri Lanka as well as the 2006 Kashmir earthquake.
A versatile leader, Belinda, who joined Christian Children’s Fund of Canada in July 2017, serves as the Chair for Cure International India Trust (which addresses the disability caused by clubfoot among children) and as the Founder and Secretary of Sakthi-Vidiyal (which helps children facing difficulties, such as life on the street).
Belinda loves to travel and is an avid reader.
